A stolen yakshi head. A plane crash. A vandal on the loose in Ellora ... An American buys a yakshi head stolen from a Bhubaneshwar temple and subsequently dies in a plane crash. Trying to prevent the smuggling of priceless sculptures out of India, Feluda, Topshe and Jatayu follow the lead of the yakshi to the Ellora caves. But the appearance of a Bollywood film crew and a sudden murder complicate matters, and Feluda must draw on all his investigative skills to solve the case before the vandal strikes again.

Satyajit Ray is considered to be among the foremost film directors of the twentieth century. He directed 37 films in his lifetime, which included feature films, documentaries and short films. His first film, Pather Panchali won the 'Prix du document humain' award at the Cannes Film Festival, including which he won nine international awards. This film is the first in the Apu trilogy, the other two films being his Aparjito and Apur Sansaar. In addition to being a film director, he was also an author, publisher, illustrator and film-critic. Ray won many awards in his lifetime, including the Academy Honorary Award and the Bharat Ratna.
