CEO
Gaurav Shrinagesh is the CEO of Penguin Random House India, SEA & MENA, and serves on the Global Executive Committee for Penguin Random House as well as being a member of the Board of Directors at the Sharjah Book Authority. Gaurav began his career at Bertelsmann, Penguin Random House’s parent company, in 1999, working in the Strategy Consulting division in Germany. He subsequently worked across various Bertelsmann group companies in M&A, Music, Retail, Supply Chain, and Book Publishing in New York, China, Hong Kong, and India, which led to him taking over as CEO of Penguin Random House India in 2013.
An entrepreneurial leader with over two decades of experience in global markets, leading strategic growth, transformation, and market engagement, Gaurav has spearheaded the progress of Penguin Random House in India, Southeast Asia, and more recently, the MENA region by publishing some of the most eminent writers in the regions and ensuring the reach and discoverability of books across formats and platforms. As CEO, Gaurav is focused on preparing the business for the future, leading innovation, and enabling new technology and data to drive decision-making.
Gaurav was educated at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Statistics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, and an MBA from the Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne. He currently resides in India with his wife, two children, and his dog, and is an avid fan of Liverpool Football Club.
